Mark 9:14-29
As Jesus came down from the mountain with Peter, James, John and approached the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and scribes arguing with them.
Immediately on seeing him, the whole crowd was utterly amazed.
They ran up to him and greeted him.
He asked them, “What are you arguing about with them?”
Someone from the crowd answered him, “Teacher, I have brought to you my son possessed by a mute spirit. Wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, grinds his teeth, and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive it out, but they were unable to do so.”
He said to them in reply, “O faithless generation, how long will I be with you? How long will I endure you? Bring him to me.”
They brought the boy to him.
And when he saw him, the spirit immediately threw the boy into convulsions.
As he fell to the ground, he began to roll around and foam at the mouth.
Then he questioned his father, “How long has this been happening to him?”
He replied, “Since childhood. It has often thrown him into fire and into water to kill him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”
Jesus said to him, “‘If you can!’ Everything is possible to one who has faith.”
Then the boy’s father cried out, “I do believe, help my unbelief!”
Jesus, on seeing a crowd rapidly gathering, rebuked the unclean spirit and said to it, “Mute and deaf spirit, I command you: come out of him and never enter him again!”
Shouting and throwing the boy into convulsions, it came out.
He became like a corpse, which caused many to say, “He is dead!”
But Jesus took him by the hand, raised him, and he stood up.
When he entered the house, his disciples asked him in private, “Why could we not drive the spirit out?”
He said to them, “This kind can only come out through prayer.”

“저는 믿습니다. 믿음이 없는 저를 도와주십시오.” 하고 외쳤다. (마르 9,24)
하느님께서는 다 아십니다. 하느님께 진솔하게 다가가겠습니다.
전능하신 하느님, 저희가 언제나 하느님의 뜻을 새기고 말과 행동으로 실천하게 하소서.
하느님의 모습으로 창조된 인간은 살아가면서 죄와 악으로 그 모습이 더럽혀질 위협을 당합니다. 믿음과 기도, 이 두 가지가 더러운 영의 공격 앞에서 우리 안의 하느님 모습을 지켜 낼 수 있게 하는 길입니다.
그 아버지는 겸손한 기도로 믿음을 얻고 해방된 아이를 되찾습니다. 아우구스티노 성인은 우리는 믿기 위하여 기도하고 기도하기 위하여 믿는다고 말하면서, 기도하기 위하여 믿고 기도하게 하는 믿음이 약해지지 않도록 기도하자고 초대합니다. “믿음은 기도를 샘솟게 하고 샘솟는 기도는 믿음을 튼튼하게 해 줍니다.”
